Carlo Ancelotti has turned down the opportunity to get back to AC Milan, telling the club he needs rest after two years at Real Madrid.
Rossoneri vice-president Adriano Galliani revealed the other day that this club had reached to the 55-year-old about a possible resume the San Siro. But Ancelotti revealed on Twitter on Tuesday evening he had declined the chance.
He wrote: "Because of @acmilan for support interest. Rrt had been challenging to say no to such beloved club if you ask me but I want some rest. I wish them the top."
Ancelotti parted company with Real Madrid last Monday from trophyless season and declared that he'd take a year faraway from coaching. Milan sought to influence him otherwise, with Galliani saying a week ago he felt there seemed to be a 50/50 probability of Ancelotti returning.
Ancelotti is one the most successful coaches in Milan's history, having led the Rossoneri for the Italian Serie A title in 2004 and also UEFA Champions League crowns before he left just last year to participate Chelsea after eight years within the job.
Ancelotti, who led Real with a tenth European Cup title in June 2014 but never win the league in her two seasons in Madrid, is going to have back surgery in Canada come early july. Milan missed out on European football while they limped to tenth invest Serie A under first-year coach Filippo Inzaghi. The former Milan striker is contracted towards the club until June 2016.
